God promises us many wonderful gifts. One of the most incredible is the blessing of Baptism. Through this wonderful blessing, God adopts us into his perfect family (Galatians 3:26-27). Through baptism, we are given forgiveness and salvation in Christ. Because of God's great mercy, we are washed and renewed (Titus 3:5). It is through baptism that our sins are buried and we are raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:3-4). 

The miracle of Baptism is seen most clearly as it creates faith through the power of God’s Word. As Christ says, “Let the little children come to me" (Matthew 19:14). Baptism is how God’s children are adopted into his family. He promises that the blessing is meant for everyone (Acts 2:38-39, Matthew 28:19). Jesus loves to give this adoption to all his children, babies included.

Put in another way, in baptism, God takes all of the promises and blessings he gives through Christ and wraps them into a wonderful gift. In the water and His Word, God gifts to you and me this wonderful gift. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, God declares us part of his family.
